We write with very painful news: Harry was diagnosed yesterday with a rare form of cancer - blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm. It is a hybrid of a lymphoma which transforms into a leukemia and is treated as acute leukemia.
He will be in the hospital for at least a month.
As devastated as we were to receive this diagnosis late Friday afternoon, and as difficult as it will be to see our son undergo a challenging regime of chemotherapy this summer, Harry is a very brave fighter who has faced tough challenges before.
We know each and every one of you cares deeply for Harry and our family. The new painful reality that is ours, however, is one we never ever dreamed we'd face.
As we adjust, and deal with pathologists, hematologists, oncologists, and rheumatologists this week, we ask that you allow Harry and us some space to make some fundamental decisions regarding treatment options.
